LAHORE: Punjab Chief Secretary Kamran Ali Afzal paid a surprise visit to Ramazan bazaars at Shadman and Wahdat Road on Tuesday to review arrangements.

He inspected various stalls and asked customers about the quality, availability and prices of items. Expressing satisfaction over the arrangements, people informed the Chief Secretary that good quality items are available in Ramadan bazaars at discounted rates.

On this occasion, the chief secretary ordered the authorities not to miss anything, including flour and sugar. He said providing maximum relief to the common man is a priority during Ramadan and that administrative officers should discharge their duties in a dynamic manner.

The chief secretary said Ramadan bazaars and price control measures were reviewed daily. He ordered officers to closely monitor prices as well as the quality, demand and supply of daily use items.

Industries Secretary Wasif Khurshid informed the Chief Secretary that the demand for certain products is higher due to subsidies on certain items in Ramadan bazaars. He said the number of counters has been increased at stalls facing the rush of shoppers, while separate counters have also been set up for elderly people and women.
