Hand Surgeon Nash Naam Named Best Reviewer for Orthopedic Journal | Community

SBL hand surgeon Nash Naam, MD, FACS, has been named a 2021 Top Reviewer for the journal Clinical Orthopedics and Related Research. The medical article review process improves manuscripts and makes them more relevant to practicing hand surgeons.

“This is a special group, representing only about 7% of the reviews in our pool this year. Those on the list have a rare combination of commitment and skill. We consider their work to be important both to the success of orthopedic research and to our journal,” explained CORR Editor-in-Chief Seth Leopold, MD.

CORR is a leading peer-reviewed orthopedic journal and publication of the Association of Bone and Joint Surgeons dedicated to the dissemination of new and important orthopedic knowledge. The journal publishes valuable content for generalists and specialists on all aspects of musculoskeletal research, diagnostics and treatment.

“The peer review process for manuscripts is essential before any scientific article is published. I take this time-consuming, yet enjoyable responsibility very seriously. I’m grateful that my reviews were highly rated, as it encourages me to be even better,” Naam said.

Editors on the Top Reviewers list made four or more reviews between September 2020 and August 2021. Top reviewers had an average review rating in the “excellent” range. Naam reviewed nine international medical articles in 2021. His contribution was recognized in the December issue of CORR.

Naam practices at the SBL Southern Illinois Hand Center, with hand surgeons Patrick Stewart, MD, FACS, and Lisa Sasso, MD, FAAOS, at 901 Medical Park Dr., Effingham.
